Our primary function is to honor those who have served our great country with Military Funeral Honors. But we do more as well, please read further for more information on the variety of services we can provide.
HONORING THOSE WHO SERVED
The rendering of Military Funeral Honors is a way to show the Nation's deep gratitude to those who, in times of war and peace, have faithfully defended our country. This ceremonial paying of respect is the final demonstration a grateful Nation can provide to the veteran's families. The tradition of providing Military Funeral Honors, in some form, began in ancient Greece and Rome. The funeral honors protocol of today traces its roots to these ancient ceremonies as well as to historical American experiences.
HONORING THOSE WHO SERVED is our commitment to recognize the sacrifice and contributions of our Nation's veterans.
Military Funeral Honors have always been provided whenever possible. However, the law now mandates the rendering of Military Funeral Honors for an eligible veteran if requested by the family. The honor detail will, at minimum, perform a ceremony that includes the folding and presenting of the American flag to the next of kin and the playing of Taps.
How much does a Military Funeral Honors
detail cost?
The service provided by the American Veterans Honor Guard is
provided at no cost to the family.
However, if a family so wishes, the Honor Guard may accept an
honorarium of any amount that the family wishes to give. Should such
an honorarium be given, it is used exclusively to help offset the
cost of providing this service to honor our departed veterans.
What can the family of an eligible veteran
expect?
The core elements of the funeral honors ceremony, which will be
conducted on request, are:
Flag folding
Flag presentation
Taps
Rifle Salute
Poppy presentation
Spent shell casing presentation
How do you make a request for a Military
Funeral Honors Detail?
You should contact your funeral director or in the Oklahoma area you
may contact us directly and we will be glad to assist you in making
arrangements with your funeral director for an Honor Guards presentation.
How much notice should be provided for the
honors request?
If possible, at least 48 hours in order to organize the funeral
honors detail.
Who is eligible?
Military members on active duty
Military retirees
Members and former members of the Selected Reserve
Eligible U.S. veterans of any war
Other U.S. veterans who served at least one term of enlistment and
separated under conditions other than dishonorable
Who is not eligible?
Some veterans are not eligible for funeral honors.
This includes, for example, those discharged from the Armed Forces
under dishonorable conditions or individuals sentenced to death or
life imprisonment without parole for a federal or state capital
offense. If you have eligibility questions, talk with the funeral
director or us.

Additional services we are honored to provide:
Posting of Colors or Presentation of Colors
The “Colors” refers to the red, white and blue colors of our American flag and the colors of an organization’s flag or the State flag. The “presentation of colors” is a ceremony that formally introduces to, and later retires these flags from, an assembly of people. We consider it an honor to be asked to present the colors.
The color guard usually consists of two flag bearers and two honor guards, although additional honor guards may be used.Give us a call if you are hosting an event in which you would like to post the colors during your opening ceremonies.
Parades
We are pleased to offer our services in honor
of our Veterans during a variety of parades through the year.
If you are hosting a parade in your local community and would like a
presence within the parade to honor our Veterans, please consider
giving us a call.
Flag Folding Demonstrations
If you have a local Club such as the Boy Scouts or Cub Scouts etc., it would be our honor to demonstrate and teach them how to fold our great flag of the United States of America and the meaning for each fold of the flag. Call us for more information about this often overlooked meaning and respect for our flag.
Folding the American Flag
1. The first fold of our flag is a symbol of life.
2. The second fold is a symbol of our belief in eternal life.
3. The third fold is in Honor of our departed Veterans who have defended our Country.
4. The fourth fold represents our Trust in God and in His Divine Guidance.
5. The fifth fold of our Flag is in tribute to our Country.
6. The sixth fold is for where our hearts lie. One Nation under God with Liberty and Justice for all.
7. The seventh fold is in tribute to all our armed forces who protect our Country and our Flag against all our enemies.
8. The eighth fold is for all those who have entered into harms way that we might be free.
9. The ninth fold is for Womanhood and Mothers for it is through their love and devotion that this great country has been molded.
10. The tenth fold is a tribute to the father, for he, too, has given his sons and daughters since they were first born.
11. The eleventh fold is in honor of the examples set at the beginning of history to help form our character today.
12. The twelfth fold, as it nears a triangle, stands for our spiritual belief of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
13. The thirteenth fold, with the Flag completely folded, the Stars are uppermost reminding us of our Nation's motto, "In God We Trust."
The folded Flag represents a cocked hat, ever reminding us of the soldiers who served under General George Washington and the sailors and marines who served under Captain John Paul Jones who were followed by their Comrades and shipmates in the Armed Forces of the United States, preserving for us the rights, privileges and freedoms we enjoy today.
This flag is awarded to every Veteran at the time of his or her burial by decree of the President of the United States of America. It is carefully folded and solemnly presented to the family member on behalf of our Grateful Nation.
